Live Free Stop #2: Our Pogue Adventures in the Outer Banks

Once a pogue, always a pogue! We’re kicking off sweet summer with our second Live Free Tour stop in the beautiful barrier islands of Outer Banks, North Carolina inspired by everyones favorite binge watch. 🌊 This trip, we channeled the adventurous spirit of the fan-favorite show for a jam-packed itinerary of adrenaline and excitement. This time around, we’re joined by some Asheville, NC-based pals: Anna Leigh Wilson, Shylee Stocks, Tanner Myatt, and Micah Lyons. Be sure to give them a follow to see more content from our epic weekend and keep reading along as we take you through every detail you need to embark on an Outer Banks-inspired quest of your own.

Day one of our roadtrip begins back in Asheville in the van we borrowed from @blue_ridge_adventure_vehicles! If you find yourself in the area, don’t miss the opportunity to check it out (it’s for sale!) We kick things off at Chimney Rock Park — if you make this stop on your trip, don’t miss Burntshirt Vineyard and Bistro on the way out! We then head east on 40 toward the Outerbanks and stopped at a local Hipcamp for the night.

We kicked off day two of our OBX adventure by capturing some content around the Hipcamp and heading toward Durham for our first stop. We stopped at First Watch, before finally making our way to OBX. 🙌  Once we arrived, we grabbed a bite at the PO House in OBX before checking into the beautiful Airbnb a bit before sunset. Once settled, we took the kayaks out on the water for the sunset in the bay. 🌅 We rounded out the day by heading back to the house to chill and watch Outer Banks on Netflix.

The day 3 scene starts at Uglie Mugs for coffee and a local favorite Stu's Food Truck for breakfast before heading to @kittyhawkkites for E-Foiling. Kitty Hawk has so many incredible adventures you can choose from, including kiteboarding, E-Foiling, and Winging. You can follow along with their different activities at @khkkiteboarding and @flykhk. 🪂

Once back on land, we grubbed out at Waves Grocery before heading home for a change of clothes before sunset. We squeezed in one more adventure for the day with hang-gliding at Jockey's Ridge for hang-gliding before settling into Salvo Day Use Area for sunset and a picnic. We then returned to the house to chill a bit before a late-night stroll on the beach where we recounted our favorite memories from the trip while making a few more. 🌌

After the late-night fun that was had, a late start the next morning after sleeping in a bit was a *must.* We hit the road again in the early afternoon to start our journey back to AVL. Along the way, we stopped at Cafe Pamlico for a delicious breakfast before making a beeline back to the Hip Camp for a night’s rest. 😴

By day 5, it was time to say goodbye. 🥺 We bonded over one last breakfast at Burgers Bagels together before sneaking in a workout, returning the van, and flying our way back home. ✈️

As a *very* wise John B once said: Our mission this summer is to have a good time, all the time… and we’re doing just that with our second year of the Live Free Tour! Our next trip is coming soon, so keep your eyes peeled for clues on that adventure. 👀

In the meantime, you can shop our special, four-piece OBX Style Pack, created to commemorate this amazing adventure we had! Don’t forget to show us how you sport it this summer by tagging @puravida on social. 📱
